Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu Announces ₹100 Crore

Amaravati, December 23, 2025 — In a bold move to position Andhra Pradesh as a global leader in quantum technology, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced a massive incentive: anyone from the state who wins a Nobel Prize in quantum research (specifically in areas like quantum computing or quantum science) for work conducted in Andhra Pradesh will receive a Rs 100 crore award from the state government.

The announcement was made during a virtual interaction with thousands of students, young professionals, and quantum technology enthusiasts on Tuesday, where Naidu launched what is described as the world’s largest quantum skilling programme. He addressed over 50,000 participants, outlining the state’s ambitious “Quantum Vision” to transform Amaravati into a premier global hub — often referred to as “Quantum Valley” — akin to Silicon Valley’s role in the digital revolution.

Naidu emphasized that quantum technology represents India’s opportunity to gain a first-mover advantage in a strategic field identified by NITI Aayog as sovereign and critical. He highlighted the national context, including the Rs 6,000-crore National Quantum Mission, which focuses on quantum computing, communications, sensing, and materials.

The Chief Minister stated that the Rs 100 crore reward is not just financial but an investment in talent, innovation, and global recognition. This revives and specifies his earlier promise from January 2017, when he offered a similar Rs 100 crore for any Nobel laureate from Andhra Pradesh (regardless of field). He has previously made comparable announcements, such as for achievements in natural farming.

Key highlights from Naidu’s address include:

  • Plans to train one lakh (100,000) quantum professionals initially, with the programme receiving overwhelming response (over 54,000 registrations soon after announcement).
  • Andhra Pradesh aims to start producing quantum computers within two years, with partnerships involving global players and focus on various types like Neural Atom, Trapped Ion, Photonics, and Topological Quantum Computers.
  • The initiative targets applications in green energy, personalised medicine, agriculture, advanced manufacturing, and more.
  • Amaravati’s Quantum Valley is envisioned as one of the world’s top five quantum computing hubs, driving high-value jobs and product innovation.

Naidu drew inspiration from global Indian leaders like Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai, urging students to think big and lead rather than follow. He reiterated Andhra Pradesh’s fast-learning culture and commitment to leading India’s next technological wave toward the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

This announcement underscores the state’s deep-tech ambitions, blending skilling, research, manufacturing, and incentives to attract talent and investment in quantum technologies.
