Ahead of 2026 Elections, Vijay’s TVK Reaches Out to Minorities
Mamallapuram, December 22, 2025 – Actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), inaugurated the party’s first-ever Equality Christmas Celebration by lighting the Christmas tree and cutting a grand cake with children at the Four Points by Sheraton Resort & Convention Centre in Mamallapuram on Monday.
The invitation-only event, accessed strictly via QR code passes, attracted around 1,500 attendees, including priests, community leaders, and enthusiastic party cadres. Vijay warmly interacted with young fans, distributing gifts, feeding cake to children, and engaging in joyful moments with the crowd. He also received a thoughtful miniature temple model from Dr. N. Marie Wilson.
In his inspiring speech, Thalapathy Vijay emphasized communal harmony and secularism, drawing from the biblical story of Joseph to illustrate themes of faith, love, and perseverance. “Tamil Nadu is a land of motherly love where Pongal, Diwali, Ramzan, and Christmas are celebrated with equal joy and unity,” he declared. Quoting metaphorically, “A light will surely be born, and that light will guide us,” Vijay reaffirmed his commitment: “Both I and TVK are 100% dedicated to safeguarding social harmony and religious amity through firm secular principles. Praise the Lord.
“This heartwarming event highlights TVK’s strategic outreach to minority communities as Thalapathy Vijay builds momentum for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, positioning the party as a champion of inclusive politics and universal faith.
However, the celebration drew mixed reactions online, with BJP Tamil Nadu leaders pointing to Vijay’s silence on recent issues like the Thiruparankundram temple lamp controversy. Supporters of TVK countered by celebrating it as a true reflection of Tamil Nadu’s deep-rooted tradition of peaceful coexistence across religions.
As Thalapathy Vijay transitions fully into politics following his final film projects, initiatives like the Equality Christmas Celebration reinforce TVK’s appeal as a fresh, secular alternative in Tamil Nadu’s dynamic political landscape.
