NDA Projected to Win 352 Lok Sabha Seats: New Survey

The India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation survey, released on January 29, 2026, projects a strong performance for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) if Lok Sabha elections were held today. The NDA is forecasted to secure 352 seats, well above the majority mark of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha. The BJP alone is projected to win 287 seats, enabling it to form the government independently without relying heavily on allies.

In contrast, the opposition INDIA bloc is expected to drop to 182 seats, reflecting a significant decline in momentum. Other parties are projected to win just 9 seats. Nationally, the NDA commands a 47% vote share, while the INDIA bloc stands at 39%.

Key Highlights from the Survey

  • Conducted by CVoter for India Today between December 8, 2025, and January 21, 2026.
  • Based on responses from over 125,000 participants across all Lok Sabha constituencies.
  • This marks a gain of about 28 seats for the NDA compared to the August 2025 poll projections.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership continues to enjoy strong approval, with the survey underscoring sustained voter trust in the NDA despite economic challenges like unemployment and inflation.

Regional Contrast: Tamil Nadu Stands Out

While the NDA dominates nationally, the survey reveals stark regional differences. In Tamil Nadu, the DMK-led INDIA bloc maintains a commanding lead with a 45% vote share and is projected to win 38 out of 39 Lok Sabha seats. The NDA’s vote share in the state has risen slightly to 33%, but it remains far behind. This resilience in Tamil Nadu could influence upcoming 2026 assembly elections in the state, where regional dynamics play a major role.

The poll highlights the NDA’s consolidation in key areas like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, while opposition strongholds persist in states like Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Kerala.

For NRIs following Indian politics from abroad, this survey signals continued stability under the current NDA government, with implications for economic policies, foreign relations, and diaspora-focused initiatives.
