Sources indicate that scans have revealed ligament damage, and the BCCI medical team is closely monitoring his condition before making a final decision on his availability. Reddy was noticeably absent from the team’s visit to Manchester United and also missed the optional practice session, further indicating the seriousness of his injury.

This development comes at a particularly challenging time for the Indian think-tank, with the series on the line. Concerns about Jasprit Bumrah’s workload, Arshdeep Singh’s cut on his bowling hand, and Akash Deep’s unlikely full fitness before the fourth Test on Wednesday, exacerbate the situation. As a precautionary measure, Anshul Kamboj has already joined the team in Manchester on Sunday as a back-up for Arshdeep.

After being rested for the series opener in Leeds, Nitish Kumar Reddy featured in the second and third Tests. While he had a quiet outing in Birmingham with two runs and no wickets, he proved to be a vital asset at Lord’s, picking up crucial wickets of Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley in the first innings, and dismissing Crawley again in the second.
