About the Role
As a Mining Engineer in BHP’s Resource Operations team, you’ll work across some of Australia’s most advanced mines—supporting planning, production, and continuous improvement to maximize resource recovery and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement mine plans and short-to-medium term production strategies
Optimize drilling, blasting, and material movement operations
Collaborate with geologists, maintenance, and safety teams on-site
Use advanced mining software to model and track production performance
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 3+ years’ professional mining experience
Proficiency in software such as Surpac, Vulcan, or Deswik
Strong understanding of open-pit or underground mining operations
Fluent in English with strong problem-solving and teamwork skills
Eligible for or interested in Subclass 482 Visa sponsorship
Willing to transition to Permanent Residency (Subclass 186) after qualifying period
