Hindu Temple of Central Indiana (HTCI) in Indianapolis is currently seeking two full-time Shaivite Hindu priests to serve the growing Hindu community in central Indiana + surrounding Midwest region.

  • Position: Full-Time Shaivite Hindu Priest (Two Positions Available)
  • Temple: Hindu Temple of Central Indiana (HTCI)
  • Location: 3350 N. German Church Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46235, USA

Role Overview

The selected priest will perform daily temple rituals + serve the devotee community. Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily Nithya Pujas, Archana, Abhishekam + Aarti
  • Special ceremonies + life-cycle rituals (Shodasha Karmas)
  • Support during festivals + community events
  • Maintaining the sanctity of the temple

Two specialist positions are open:

  1. Shaivite Priest with strong Tamil language skills
  2. Shaivite Priest with strong Telugu language skills

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Vedic rituals + Agama Shastra (Shaivite tradition preferred; Smartha or Vaishnava candidates with Shaivite expertise may also apply)
  • Fully qualified to perform Shodasha Karmas
  • Ability to conduct Shraddha + cremation ceremonies
  • Valid certification from a recognized Hindu religious institution or university
  • Language requirement:
    • Tamil (mandatory for one position)
    • Telugu (mandatory for the other position)
    • Kannada / Hindi preferred
  • Working knowledge of English
  • Basic computer literacy
  • US Green Card holders or US Citizens preferred
