In 2017, a quiet boy from Udaipur, Rajasthan, made national headlines by achieving what no one had done before: scoring a perfect 360 out of 360 in JEE Main, securing All India Rank (AIR) 1. Kalpit Veerwal’s name was etched into the Limca Book of Records, and he instantly became a symbol of academic brilliance for millions of engineering aspirants across India and the global Indian diaspora.

Fast forward nine years to April 2026. The same Kalpit Veerwal, now an IIT Bombay Computer Science graduate, successful entrepreneur, investor, TEDx speaker, and content creator, has taken a bold new turn. He has consciously walked away from the predictable “IIT-to-corporate” path to pursue his long-cherished passion — singing and songwriting. In his own words shared on social media: “The traditional corporate IIT route never appealed to me, and the popularity I enjoyed due to my rank helped me pursue so many different careers. Over the years, I’ve been an educator, built businesses, spoken across the country, invested, travelled — and very recently, started releasing my own music as a singer-songwriter.”

Humble Beginnings in Udaipur

Kalpit Veerwal was born into a modest middle-class family in Udaipur. His father, Pushkar Lal Veerwal, worked as a compounder at Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital, while his mother, Pushpa Veerwal, was a school teacher. Education was highly valued in the household, but there was no silver spoon or big-city coaching ecosystem.

Kalpit studied at MDS Senior Secondary School (CBSE-affiliated) in Udaipur. A bright student since Class 2, he consistently topped his class and developed a deep love for mathematics early on. He began competitive exam preparation in Class 7, excelling in NTSE (National Talent Search Examination), KVPY, and various Olympiads. He joined Resonance coaching locally but never took the extreme “Kota route.” Instead, he stayed in Udaipur, balancing school, coaching, and intense self-study.

Unlike the viral 15–16-hour study schedules that often dominate JEE narratives, Kalpit maintained a balanced routine. He studied consistently for about 5–6 hours daily (plus school/coaching), woke up early, played cricket and badminton, watched TV, and even pursued hobbies like music as stress-busters. This smart, sustainable approach helped him crack JEE Main with a historic perfect score on 2 April 2017, without burnout.

The IIT Bombay Chapter and the Birth of an Entrepreneur

After clearing JEE Advanced, Kalpit joined IIT Bombay for B.Tech in Computer Science. The campus opened new doors — he participated in NCC, explored campus life, and soon realized that a high-paying corporate job wasn’t his calling.

During his second year, he started sharing JEE preparation tips and life advice on YouTube and Quora under the brand AcadBoost. The response was overwhelming. In 2019 (at just 19–20 years old), he founded AcadBoost Technologies — an EdTech and business consulting company focused on competitive exam prep and practical career skills. He skipped internships and campus placements entirely to pour everything into his venture.

AcadBoost grew rapidly. His YouTube channel earned the Silver Play Button after crossing 100,000 subscribers. He developed successful online courses, bootstrapped the company to over $1 million in profit, and created jobs while helping thousands of students. By his final year, Kalpit had already earned more through his business than the highest placement packages at IIT Bombay. He even left a semester early to scale the company full-time.

Recognition followed quickly: LinkedIn named him among its Top Voices (one of the youngest), he delivered TEDx talks, and private equity firms and edtech giants approached him with acquisition offers. Kalpit politely declined them all, choosing independence and reinvesting profits into multiple businesses, stocks, and real estate for financial freedom.

The Shift to Music: Following the Heart

Throughout his journey — from JEE topper to entrepreneur and investor — music remained a constant passion. Kalpit had been releasing song covers for years on his YouTube channel. Travelling, investing, and building businesses gave him the freedom and experiences he craved. But the pull toward original music grew stronger.

In late 2025 and early 2026, he began releasing original tracks as a singer-songwriter. Songs like “Mujh Sang” (December 2025) and “Japan” (2026) — a romantic indie-pop track inspired by his solo trip to Japan, complete with an official music video — have been streaming on Spotify, YouTube Music, and other platforms. He has also released tracks like “Stay Right Now.” His fans now follow his music journey on Instagram (@kalpit.veerwal) and his personal YouTube channel, where he blends lifestyle, travel, and original songs.

Kalpit has openly shared that he is now focusing more on investing and music: “I’ve been focusing a lot more on investing and music lately — you’ll hear more of my music this year.” His story is a powerful reminder that JEE success is not an endpoint but a launchpad for a life of purpose and passion.

Why This Story Matters for the Global Indian Community

For NRIs and Indian families worldwide who push their children toward “safe” engineering careers, Kalpit Veerwal’s journey offers a refreshing perspective. Academic excellence opened doors, but courage and self-awareness helped him choose his own path. From a government hospital compounder’s son in Udaipur to a self-made entrepreneur and now an emerging independent artist, his story proves that true success lies in authenticity.

As Kalpit himself reflects, the fame from his JEE rank gave him the platform to explore freely — education, business, travel, investing, and now music. He never followed the crowd, and that is perhaps his greatest achievement.

Today, Kalpit Veerwal continues to inspire through his newsletter kalpitveerwal , social media, and music. Whether you’re a JEE aspirant in India, an NRI parent in the US or UAE, or someone at a crossroads in their career, his message is clear: Build a strong foundation, but never be afraid to rewrite the script.
