April 6, 2026 – The Tollywood box office witnessed an interesting clash this weekend as two very different films — Biker starring Sharwanand and Rakasa starring Sangeeth Shobhan — hit the screens on April 3.
While Sharwanand brought high-octane action and emotional father-son drama in India’s first major motocross film, Sangeeth Shobhan delivered chills mixed with comedy in a horror entertainer. So, how are the two films faring at the box office, especially among the global Telugu audience?
Day 1 Box Office Collection (April 3, 2026 – Friday)
- Rakasa: ₹2.60 Crore net The horror-comedy opened stronger than expected despite fewer shows (1,318). It benefited from good curiosity and decent word-of-mouth in key markets.
- Biker: ₹2.10 Crore net Sharwanand’s ambitious sports drama opened to decent numbers, particularly in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Telugu version contributed the lion’s share (₹2.05 Cr), while the Tamil version added a modest ₹5 lakh. Overall occupancy remained average at around 23%.
Rakasa clearly won the opening day by a margin of ₹50 lakh, proving once again that well-made genre films can punch above their weight.
Day 2 Box Office Collection (April 4, 2026 – Saturday)
- Biker: ₹2.33 Crore net The film saw a modest 16.8% drop. After two days, Biker has collected ₹5.13 Crore net in India (Gross ~₹5.95 Crore). It is still running on good screen count (2,094 shows).
- Rakasa: Continued to show better holding power on Saturday.
US & Overseas Performance – Strong for Rakasa
In the crucial US market (very important for Telugu films):
- Rakasa collected nearly double that of Biker on Day 1 (~$134K vs ~$67K in early reports).
- This shows stronger appeal and better word-of-mouth among Telugu NRIs for the horror-comedy.
Many NRIs in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and the Gulf have been sharing mixed reactions:
- Fans of Sharwanand appreciated the visuals and emotional scenes in Biker, but felt the film needed stronger promotion.
- Rakasa is being praised for its entertaining mix of scares and laughs, making it a safer weekend watch for families.
Early Verdict for NRI Audiences
With Dhurandhar 2 still dominating many screens, both films are fighting for whatever space is left. Sunday (Day 3) will be crucial, especially for Biker to recover and cross the ₹8–10 crore weekend mark.
For Telugu NRIs planning to watch in India during vacations or waiting for OTT/digital release, the current trend suggests Rakasa has better early momentum, while Biker needs strong Sunday and positive reviews to stay in the race.
