RCB Make History by Winning Both IPL and WPL Titles

This remarkable feat came after the RCB women’s team clinched their second WPL title on February 5, 2026, defeating Delhi Capitals in a thrilling final. The men’s team had previously broken their long trophy drought by winning the IPL in 2025.

The Journey to Glory

  • IPL 2025 Triumph: After 17 years without an IPL title (since the league’s inception in 2008), RCB, led by captain Rajat Patidar, finally lifted the coveted trophy. In the final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, they defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs. RCB posted 190/9, with Virat Kohli contributing significantly throughout the season (including as the leading run-scorer for the team). This victory marked a emotional high for fans and players like Kohli, ending years of near-misses and memes about “Ee Sala Cup Namde” (“This year the cup is ours”).
  • WPL Dominance: The RCB women’s team had already secured their maiden WPL title in 2024, defeating Delhi Capitals in the final to bring the first silverware to the franchise across both leagues. After Mumbai Indians won in 2025, RCB returned stronger in WPL 2026.

WPL 2026 Final: A Record-Breaking Thriller

In the WPL 2026 final at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, Delhi Capitals batted first and posted a competitive 203/4. Key contributions came from Jemimah Rodrigues (57), Laura Wolvaardt (44), and others.

Chasing 204—the highest successful chase in WPL history—RCB’s openers set the tone. Captain Smriti Mandhana smashed a brilliant 87, while Georgia Voll contributed a superb 79. Their 165-run partnership for the second wicket was pivotal in a high-pressure chase. RCB reached the target in 19.4 overs with 6 wickets in hand, sealing a six-wicket victory.

This win made RCB joint-most successful in WPL history with two titles (alongside Mumbai Indians’ 2023 and 2025 wins). It also denied Delhi Capitals their first title, as DC lost all four WPL finals (to MI in 2023 & 2025, and RCB in 2024 & 2026).

Historic Double for the Franchise

With the IPL 2025 trophy still reigning (as IPL 2026 is yet to begin) and the fresh WPL 2026 crown, RCB now proudly holds both major T20 trophies in Indian cricket. This makes them the only franchise to achieve this unique double at the same time.

Fans erupted in celebrations, with tributes pouring in—including from Virat Kohli, who congratulated Mandhana and the team for their grit. The Bengaluru-based side has transformed from perennial underachievers to a dominant force, winning three titles in three years (WPL 2024, IPL 2025, WPL 2026).

Ee Sala Cup Namde—and more! RCB’s golden era is here, bringing immense pride to supporters in Bengaluru and beyond. This story of perseverance, talent, and team spirit will be remembered as a landmark in franchise cricket history.
