On Monday, June 22, 2026, TTD will conduct the Grand Pushpayagam Mahotsavam at Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple, Tirupati. This rare flower-yajna at one of the 108 Divya Desams is one of the few major South Indian temple events where NRI families across the world can participate live via SVBC streaming — at times that work for every major diaspora time zone.
What is Pushpayagam?
Pushpayagam (flower-yajna) is one of the highest forms of arul-puja in the Vaikhanasa Agama tradition. Instead of water or fire as the offering medium, the moolavar is bathed in mountains of fresh seasonal flowers across multiple sevas through the day. The Padma Purana states: "One Pushpayagam done with full bhakti grants the punya of a thousand yajnas." Lord Vishnu is described as "Pushpa-priya" — lover of flowers.
Why Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple Specifically
Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple in Tirupati town (not the famous hill temple of Sri Venkateswara at Tirumala) is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Sri Vaishnava tradition, traced to Ramanujacharya in the 12th century. The presiding deity in bhujanga-shayanam (reclining) posture is considered the younger brother of Sri Venkateswara. Pushpayagam here specifically is believed to grant family harmony, marriage and progeny boons, wealth-flow clearance, and chronic illness recovery.
