Tesla has unveiled its groundbreaking Tesla Diner & Drive-In Theater at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, California, blending a 1950s-inspired diner with cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) charging technology. Officially opened on July 21, 2025, this retro-futuristic venue features 80 V4 Supercharger stalls, making it the world’s largest urban Supercharger station, accessible to all NACS-compatible EVs. With two 45-foot LED movie screens, roller-skating servers, and Tesla’s Optimus robot, the Tesla Diner is redefining the EV charging experience.

A Unique Blend of Nostalgia and Innovation

First envisioned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk in 2018, the Tesla Diner combines the charm of a classic American diner with futuristic elements inspired by Grease and The Jetsons. The two-story, 250+ seat restaurant, designed by Stantec, offers a 24/7 dining experience with a menu curated by celebrity chef Eric Greenspan. Highlights include the Tesla Burger ($13.50), wagyu beef chili, fried chicken and waffles, and hand-spun milkshakes, all served in Cybertruck-shaped boxes for a playful, brand-centric touch.

The diner’s drive-in theater features two massive LED screens showcasing classic sci-fi films, retro cartoons, and SpaceX launch footage. Tesla drivers can order food via their vehicle’s touchscreen and watch movies from their cars, while non-Tesla visitors can enjoy the Skypad—a second-story rooftop with outdoor seating and prime views of the screens.

World’s Largest Urban Supercharger

The Tesla Diner boasts 80 V4 Supercharger stalls with 325 kW capability, allowing Tesla and NACS-compatible non-Tesla EVs to add up to 40% battery range in just 10 minutes. Solar canopies shade the west charging lot, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 26.6 million pounds of CO₂ annually. This makes the diner not only a charging hub but also a sustainability showcase.

Located in LA’s bustling Media District, the diner is open to all visitors, not just EV owners. Non-charging guests can park in nearby garages or use valet services on nights and weekends. The site is accessible via N Orange Drive or N Sycamore Ave for drivers, with a pedestrian entrance on Santa Monica Boulevard.

A Tech-Driven Experience with Optimus and More

The Tesla Diner integrates advanced technology, including in-car ordering through the Tesla app and meal delivery by roller-skating servers or Tesla’s Optimus robot, which was spotted serving popcorn during a soft launch for LA first responders. The restrooms feature a cosmic touch with ceiling portals showing views of Earth, aligning with Tesla’s space-inspired ethos.

Elon Musk, who dined at the location during its soft opening, praised it as “one of the coolest spots in LA” on X, hinting at plans to expand the concept to major cities and long-distance Supercharger sites if successful.

Why Tesla Diner Matters

The Tesla Diner is more than a charging station—it’s a cultural attraction that merges nostalgia with innovation. By offering a seamless blend of dining, entertainment, and ultra-fast charging, Tesla is setting a new standard for EV infrastructure. The diner’s retro-futuristic vibe, complete with neon lights and Tesla-branded merchandise like diner tees and mini Optimus figures, has already made it a social media hotspot.

The project, which broke ground in September 2023 after years of delays due to Santa Monica regulations, has attracted significant attention. Fans like Tracey Kuss, who waited since 6 a.m. on opening day, have celebrated its completion, with many sharing their excitement on X.

What’s Next for Tesla Diner?

With long lines reported on opening day, the Tesla Diner is poised to become a must-visit destination in Hollywood. Its 24/7 operation, diverse menu, and immersive entertainment make it appealing to both Tesla enthusiasts and casual visitors. If successful, Musk’s vision could lead to similar diners at Supercharger sites worldwide, transforming EV charging into a memorable experience.

Don’t miss the chance to visit the Tesla Diner at 7001 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90038. Whether you’re charging your EV, grabbing a Tesla Burger, or watching a movie under the stars, this retro-futuristic hotspot is a game-changer.
