Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar Leads India’s Historic Podium Sweep at 2026 Asian Shooting Championships

Indian shooters, including rising stars with global potential, delivered a spectacular performance at the Asian Shooting Championships 2026, held at the historic Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi from February 2-14. In a moment of immense pride for India and the worldwide Indian diaspora, the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event saw a complete podium sweep by Indian talent, led by Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar who etched his name in history with a new world record.

The 25-year-old two-time Olympian and Asian champion Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar defended his continental title in thrilling fashion. In the final, he produced a flawless display, finishing with an extraordinary score of 362.0 — setting a new world record and Asian record in the process. The drama peaked on the 35th and final shot: entering with Niraj Kumar holding a narrow 0.2-point lead, Kumar scored 10.3. Tomar, showcasing nerves of steel, responded with a clutch 10.7 to overtake his teammate and clinch gold.

Niraj Kumar, who topped the qualification round with a strong 593, earned silver with 361.8 — marking his breakthrough first individual international medal. Akhil Sheoran completed the all-Indian podium with bronze at 343.5, highlighting the depth of India’s shooting program.
