India AI Impact Summit 2026: Actor Rana Daggubati Warns AI Could “Replace All of Us Quite Quickly” in Movies

Hyderabad, February 16, 2026 – At the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, acclaimed actor, producer, and entrepreneur Rana Daggubati delivered a candid and thought-provoking take on the intersection of artificial intelligence and the film industry. During a panel discussion titled “AI × Creativity: Skilling for Innovation in the Intelligent Economy,” organized by FutureSkills Prime in collaboration with Adobe and partners like INDIAai, Nasscom, and others, Daggubati addressed concerns about AI’s role in movies and entertainment.

When questioned about the impact of AI on cinema and acting, Rana Daggubati reportedly stated, “It will replace all of us quite quickly.” The remark underscores the rapid advancements in generative AI, deepfakes, and digital doubles that are already transforming content creation, visual effects (VFX), and even performance replication.

The panel, scheduled from 4:30 PM to 5:25 PM on February 16, explored how AI is redefining skills, careers, and innovation in an intelligent economy. Daggubati, known for his roles in blockbuster films like BaahubaliKalki 2898 AD, and international projects, brought a unique perspective from the worlds of storytelling, technology, and entrepreneurship. He has previously spoken about AI’s potential to enhance filmmaking—such as enabling “immortal” digital versions of actors or personalizing interactive content on OTT platforms—but his latest comment highlights a more urgent view of job displacement in creative fields.

Experts note that AI tools are streamlining scriptwriting, storyboarding, post-production, and even generating realistic digital avatars for actors in challenging scenes. Earlier discussions, including at events like Goafest 2023, saw Daggubati and actress Tabu discuss AI-generated doubles that could reduce the need for physical performances in action sequences or allow deceased icons to “return” on screen. However, today’s statement at the India AI Impact Summit emphasizes the speed at which these technologies could disrupt traditional acting roles.

The summit, part of broader initiatives under India’s Digital India and AI for All missions, focuses on building future-ready talent amid generative AI’s rise. Daggubati’s participation aligns with his ongoing interest in tech-driven ventures, including investments in regional OTT platforms and emerging technologies.

As AI continues to evolve, voices like Daggubati’s highlight the need for upskilling in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics) and adaptive creativity to stay relevant. While AI promises efficiency and new storytelling possibilities, the actor’s warning serves as a reality check for the entertainment industry: adaptation—or replacement—may come sooner than expected.
