India Wins Women’s 25m Pistol Team Gold in New Delhi
The championship, running from February 2 to 14, 2026, showcased India’s growing dominance in shooting sports on the continental stage. On February 9, 2026, the Indian trio combined for an impressive cumulative score of 1,751 points in the team competition, topping the standings and securing the gold medal ahead of strong challenges from other nations.
Chinese Taipei earned the silver with 1,735 points, while Vietnam took the bronze with 1,729 points. This team triumph highlighted the precision, consistency, and composure under pressure displayed by Esha, Rhythm, and Manu throughout the qualification rounds.
The achievement came amid a highly competitive individual final in the same event on the same day. Esha Singh topped the qualification with a score of 589 (24x inner 10s), while Manu Bhaker followed closely. All three Indians advanced to the eight-shooter final, where the competition was intense and closely contested.
In the individual women’s 25m pistol final:
- Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Trang claimed gold after a dramatic shoot-off.
- Manu Bhaker secured silver, narrowly missing gold in the tie-breaker after both finished regulation shooting with 35 points.
- Esha Singh earned bronze with a final score of 30.
- Rhythm Sangwan placed fourth with 27 points.
This marked a double success for India in the event, with the team gold complementing the individual podium finishes. Esha Singh, already an Asian champion in the 10m air pistol earlier in the championships, added to her medal haul with this bronze and contributed significantly to the team victory.
Manu Bhaker, the Olympic double bronze medallist, showed her trademark resilience in the high-stakes final, while Rhythm Sangwan’s solid performance rounded out the golden trio’s effort.
India’s shooters have been in top form at this continental meet, racking up numerous medals across rifle and pistol disciplines and reinforcing the country’s status as a shooting powerhouse in Asia.
Well done to the golden trio—Esha Singh, Rhythm Sangwan, and Manu Bhaker—for this proud moment for Indian sports!
